Tate and Scones: Highlight Moments in Liverpool

The first great incident that came to my mind was the visit to the Tate Gallery. The currently shown exhibition DLA Piper Series: The Twentieth Century: How it looked & how it felt impressed me very much. Every single work of art was imaginatively categorized according to certain topics, like Surreal Beauty, White Monochrome or Window to Grid and nearly all paintings and sculptures were equipped with much interesting information. To my mind the exposition comprised exactly the right amount of works to offer a great overview but not to be overstrained. The theme I liked best was Light and Movement, showing “Optic and Kinetic” art, because I had not seen many similar pieces before. It was quite fascinating to experience the visual alternation. Some pictures seemed to move while others created the illusion of three dimensions.

In the last exhibition room one sculpture was playing one of my all-time favourite songs, namely Somewhere Over The Rainbow sung by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. That was the icing on the cake of visiting Tate Gallery.

After thinking about the highlight moment in Liverpool for a long time I decided that I have to mention another one beside the Tate. It seems to be rather trite but it was precious to me. It took place in the small village called Grasmere. When most people of our excursion group went hiking in the Lake District only a few decided to explore this place a little longer, including myself. Some went to a pub, but Laura, Jessica, Jana and I decided to have a very British tea time in a lovely cafe. Every one of us enjoyed tea or coffee and homemade scones, a typical English pastry served with marmalade and salted butter. There’s just one word to describe this instant: Delicious!
